ANY child who has a learning or behavior problem that is not the result of physical damage to the brain can benefit from the Brain Balance Program. Conditions that would exclude your child include, but are not limited to, organic brain diseases, Down syndrome, fragile x syndrome, infectious and metabolic diseases or injury, physical brain injury, strokes or brain tumors, psychiatric illness, personality disorders, true behavioral disorders, or behavioral issues stemming from dysfunctional families or poor parenting skills.
The Brain Balance Program works best with children who: 1) Can speak and be responsive, 2) Have the ability to follow basic directions, 3) Are between the ages of 4 and 17 years old.
Older children, however, must be motivated to change or you may not see dramatic positive results. It can be difficult to make children over the age of 13 do something they don't want to do if they don't believe thay need any help. In such cases, the child may need behavioral counseling or psychotherapy before trying this program. However, some of the most amazing results have been achieved on teenagers who are strongly motivated to change.
